I picked this up last weekend. Pretty nice little classic. It must have been in storage for about 30 years, because the gas in it, was about as rotten as it gets. LOL I cleaned the carb out a bit and put fresh gas in it and it actually ran. The coils are shot, but at least I found out that new coils would be worth the investment. The top end on this motor sounds awesome, like it hardly had any hours on it. I was amazed at how well it was pumping water, when I removed the flush plug. Even more interesting, is the 3 blade prop on it.

Another one for the collection! How many is that now - 3? My '54-54 Lightwin has the 3 blade prop, but the '67 JW folder has a 2 blade prop. I'm not sure why they used 2 different props on those little motors. I can't see much difference in performance between the two.

Nice motor :)! I see it isn't in your 'outboard list' yet :D.

@Lindy46: Between 1952 and 1955 they used the 3 blade prop on those little runners, between 1956 and 1967 they used the 2 blade prop .

Re: 1955 jw-11

yea, my head count is 15 now. I actually counted last night. :D I have some ready to sell, but the outboard market out here is lousy. Too many for cheap. Everyone wants to get those $100 specials, but by the time they end up needing a new ignition system, carb kits and lower unit seals, they'll end up spending enough to buy one of mine. Oh well. Collect them now and sell later when the market improves.

Yea, I have a '57 JW-13 that has a two blade prop on it. It was kinda funny seeing a three blade on a motor this small.

Yea, I love these motors so much, but there aren't more than one or two for sale every year here in the Netherlands :(.
The reason I don't buy one from US is that the shipping costs are extremely high... I've seen shipping costs around $800 for shipping a small outboard to the Netherlands! It's just too expensive for me :(...

$800??? OUCH.....big time. Might be cheaper to buy it in pieces and have them shipped over. :D
