I am going to replace the propeller on my 15 evinrude now that I got it running good but I can't figure out exactly which pitch I should select. I don't have the budget to get multiple different ones so I'm hoping I can get some guidance?
The boat is a 1956 Crestliner 16 footer. Its about 350 lbs or so it self and would usually have just me/fishing gear/motor/battery so less than 1000. The one I have on it now is chipped and beat up and I just feel like its not running as fast as it should because of that. The speed tops out at only about 10 mph. I indend to get a tinytach at some point but until I get that can I make a reasonable guess because its not gonna be right no what with the prop it has now? I think I want the 9" pitch? I've never replaced a prop before so thanks for any help.

9x9" would agree with the prop chart. Original was 9x11 weedless. But you are so underpowered it isn't going to make a huge difference in speed. Might be better for the motor though not to be lugging it so badly. Heck, your old beat up one may be beneficial on that score, if it lets it rev up a bit. Have you considered a 30 or 35hp?

I know its really underpowered and basically agree with everything you said. I wonder if this thing has the original prop on it? Its hit ground lot in its life. Lol

I've been trying to find a reasonable big twin around here but in the area of Ohio I am in there lots of boating areas and people hang onto em. That or want $500 for something they found in a barn after 30 years.
