Looking to get the proper gas to oil ratio for my new to me lark I have read all different ratios, I found on line it should be 8 oz of outboard 2 cycle motor oil to a gallon which is my best info so far. I am wondering with the new oils and gas if there is a different ratio or additive I should add to this motor. Thanks for any info

24 to 1 and you are good to go

Have you converted to 12 Volt or is it still 6 volt?

Any pics?

24:1, or 16oz of tcW-III to 3 gallons of gas. Regardless of what you hear, don't run 50:1 if you plan on it lasting another 50 years.

thanks for the ratio and it is 12 volt, converted to a tiller and a single line gas tank fuel pump here you can see the modifications to the shifter also the tiller arm 120 on each cylinder. Now that the heat is done here, power is back on and wife is healthy and out of the hospital I can get back to working on the 58 lone star to which it will hang on.58 lonestar project 021.jpg58 lonestar project 022.jpg58 lonestar project 023.jpg

Tinkering with the motor I found the lever to be able to tilt the motor and lock it in place, but im wondering if they were able to be locked in the up position to get the skeg up and away from the road during transport and pulling out of the water.

Hi jsh. Nah, you can't really lock them up in place. You can either keep the motor down during transport, or use a transom saver device of some sort. A lot folks will also tilt the motor up and hold it in place with a ratchet strap and/or wedge a piece of 2 x 4 in place to keep it up. I leave my '66 20 hp down and have never had a problem. Here are some handy links for your motor.

Cool looking motor and interesting modifications on the shifter. Never seen anything like that. Yes, I agree, 24:1 for the mix. One quart per 6 gallon tank and call it good. It looks like your motor is in nice shape and I believe you will keep it that way.
