I just bought a chromed faceplate for a '56 Johnson Javelin. Chrome is corroded but not too bad. What can I use to clean it up? Also, there is a rubber strip on the back of the plate that is about 4-5 inches long and has a metal spring clip on one end and the other end is attached to the backside of the plate. What is this rubber strip for? Thanks for any help.
