Hi all -
The previous topic I was on got closed, so I'm starting a new one. I'm in hot pursuit for some parts for the above motor. So far, I've gotten lots of tips, but not any parts suppliers. Does anyone have any ideas I could try? Thank you!

Leslie,

The previous thread was moved to the Outboards Non-Repair section, and is still active there.

Now you're looking for parts. Which parts in particular? I know you're looking for the front flap or door. That one will have to come used, I'm sure.

Other parts aren't too tough to come by, particularly ignition and carb parts. Sierra makes replacements for all that stuff, along with seals, etc.

You might want to start looking for a parts motor. I know some show up on eBay from time to time.

Thank you, CA! The "book" link you sent was terrific, and a whole page dedicated to the THRILLING NEW JAVELIN 30! Mine has a pull start that is a backup to the electric start pushbutton on the dash of the boat. Very high tech. Ha! This does open a whole new world of parts availability to me, though, now that you've pointed out the interchangability. I am going to take your advice and try to get a parts motor. I found a site that sells paint and decals, that will help spruce it up a bit too...thank you so much for your help. You've been patient and great!

Have fun with your Javelin! They're solid motors, with a good heritage. I've got my '58 35hp running like a top now and plan to get a few more good seasons out of it.

I'm not much on the appearance side of things, and won't be "sprucing it up," but it looks pretty good anyhow. That Big Twin engine, in one form or another, was a mainstay for OMC. It's amazing how long they kept using the same basic engine.

With yours, you'll need to find a parts motor of 1956 or a bit earlier. The displacement of the engine changed in 1957. Not much else did, though. It's just a good workhorse of an engine, and once you get yours running right, you should have a good reliable outboard. There are a lot of them still doing good service out there.
