I was checking the impeller on this motor and I was having trouble trying to get the key back in once I was finished. I took apart the bottom end and found a ring with two holes on each side fitted on the driveshaft along with what looks like a pin flush to the shaft. Is that supposed to a pin sticking out to hold that ring in place to keep the driveshaft suspended or does it have another purpose? (The first 3 pictures are the same. I was having trouble trying to figure out how to insert them)

Ok so we have a 1956 Scott. Do you have a HP or serial or model number to go with that. In 1956 Scott Atwater was making different motors for different companies so this is much needed info. I have the service manual and Im trying to help you figure this out. Need more info
