1957 35 hp johnson javelin problem

I took the motor out today ran great had to tweak the settings alittle, but other then that fine, I was driving full speed and the motor cut out, I relized the speed controls weren't working properly, I removed the cowl and found that the plate or whatever the coil packs sit on, twisted and lodged in the throttle linkage, (keeping speed control from moving) I have no idea about this one? I did see the spark wires were pulled tight because the twisting of plate, What should I tear apart and look at?

Sounds like you had a coil come loose and get caught in the flywheel. Pull flywheel with a harmonic pulled and assess the damage.
