I have a 1957 fd-11 johnson lower keeps leaking from center screw hole. It looks as if the screw hole area isn't flat and I can't get anything small enough in there to try and flatten it. Has anyone ever used an o ring around the screw?

I tried gasket sealer on the screw treads and a good amount on the under side of the crew head. Let it sit over night and when I did a pressure test, it was leaking from the middle screw.

strange problem.... try some gasket goo then place a flat washer over the goo then install the bolt and nylon washer over the flat washer which will provide a flat surface easier to seal.

hopefully you did try the standard marine gradenylon washer under the bolt head.

The surface needs to be clean and true to seal.----Visit your local machine shop and have them use an end mill to fix this.

I’m new to this forum and I had a question for you. I’ve seen in past threads you have a lot of knowledge on the electramatic shift motors. I am working on one for a friend and it will shift into forward only once. It will shift to reverse every time but only forward one time then tries to blow a fuse. Is there a way to contact you directly as to not steal this thread ?
