1957 johnson 35 hp seahorse cables

hello again. i have a 1957 seahorse 35hp. the control cables i have need replaced. my question is how do i get the control box teeth connector off of the cable so i can apply them to the new cables? any help will be appreciated

Short answer, you can't.

I know of places you can get them new, but they are not cheap. you could try splicing into it, but you will have a weak spot inside the connector.

I think the OP is referring to the shifter cable.
If so, then the wire end of the cable usually goes through a hole in a tiny cylindrical metal clamp and is held in position by a couple of set screws

hmmmmm, either he added info, or more likely I should have been in bed instead of replying. Likely the latter.
