I am new to this forum and have a question about my 1957 johnson 35 hp. I recently blew the head gasket and need the torque specs for puting it back together. Thanks in advance.

I would start in the middle and work your way out. Go in three sequences dividing the torque spec by three.

my repair manual lists the torque specs for the cyl head bolts 216 to 240 in-lbs.
i agree it should be done in 3 steps starting from the inside bolts to the outside bolts.

hope this helps.

And that also comes to 18 - 20 foot pounds, incase you have one of the other types of torque wrench.
