I finally have gotten my old Johnson to run good enough to get it off of the trailer and I was wondering how fast this boat engine combo should go? Boat is 1956 Vagabond II 15' with a 1957 Johnson 35h.p. with brand new Michigan Prop. (10.5 x 12) Boat only should weigh 315lbs. I figure with everything on the boat it should weigh no more than 600lbs. Best top speed was 24.9 w/ one person and relatively smooth water. Thanks :D

My 16' Ørnvik fiberglass, weighing 340 Lbs with my freshly rebuild Evin 35HP 1984 and a 10x13 alu did 28 Mph at the very best on smooth water with only one person and no load in it. I think yours is doing very fine.

Thanks, I was just wanting to know if this sounded about right, I was expecting more speed out of this boat. Seems slow with 2-3 people in the boat, and this boat is rated @ 6 people, I do not know where you wouild fit them. Thanks again

I just got a Monark 16' aluminum boat with a Johnson 48hp (1989 2 cycle OMC). What about it?

Would it pull a skier? What about no load? Maybe 35mph?

It should pull a skier, not a tournament speeds though. Top speed should be about 28, 29 mph

Thanks Jimmbo, the reason for this post is that after finally getting the boat running the hub slipped on the prop, tried to press in new rubber bushing and discovered cracks in the casting. So now I have a new prop and don't know if this is the right one or not, the pitches are a little off. Because I don't know what the boat would have done with the old prop.

tgissel, I've got a 56 vagabound II as well, with a 30 hp johnson. Mine will do 20 mph so my brother said. He was following me in his boat. By the way, I've been trying to find info on old Feathercrafts. Found www.feathercraftboats.com. Alot of history on the old boats.

What a coincidence. Just got my first closeup of a Feathercraft tonight on the river. Needs a bit of restoration, nameplate was faded on the side, but looks seaworthy. Neat boat! How rare are these? What do they go for?

Thanks for the replies. CAJUN555 there is also a website www.feathercraft.net. My Feathercraft is on the website you mentioned on the home page for the Louisville, TN of this year, it is the very first picture. MIDDLEGROUND the boat had not been in the water since 1982, the thing that preserved this motor was the original owner fogged it and stored the boat in a barn. ENEGRON these boats a pretty cheap there is one on E-Bay right now. Thanks Again,

tgissel; yeah, I'm watching it. Thanks!

Seems like these would really scream with a 40-50hp.
