I have a 1957 Johnson 35 Javelin motor with electtric start. i have it on the back of a 15 1/2 foot starcraft boat. i was wandering if anyone new if u can hook up a johnson throttle to it? and if the motor is a hand steering motor or can i hook a steering wheel up to it? please help<br /> :( :confused:

There are threaded holes on each side of the engine where a "U" type clamp can be attached. The adjustable trunion that is on all throttle and shift cables would lock in those "U" clamps. In the center of the carrying handle, you will see a hole. That hole is for attaching a steering bracket regardless of if you would be using a mechanical steering cable or a tiller (flexible cable and pulley steering) setup.<br /><br />This subject is too deep to explain fully, other than what I've just explained. Best to check the books at a Evinrude/Johnson dealership of a library.

Joe,the rde's had a "U" clamp on the boss.The rd's did not.<br />If you have a tiller unit and you want to change to a remote,you will have to just take that part off.<br />Best idea is to buy a manual that explains exactly and simply how to go about this.Personally I like Seloc,because they do not expect you to be a mechanic.<br />The parts are available at: www.tcoutboard.com<br />good luck.

what do u mean by rde's and rd's. the model #is RJE-19? i dont know if that will make a difference.
