Ive had this in the yard for a cpl years, I was told it was a 1957 lonestar malibu. Im not sure what it is I have no paper work on it. and there is no plates or ID of any kind on it. We put a 9.9 tiller motor on it and putted around some last year, and its water tight. looks really cool like a early bowrider. if anyone knows what it is, or has seen one let me know.View attachment 220733View attachment 220732View attachment 220731View attachment 220730

Re: 1957 longstar?

The boat looks remarkably clean for it's age, and because I'm a fellow Lone Star guy I wanted to welcome you. My boat is 1960 fiberglass run about which I'm restoring at a snails pace. There are websites you can go to to see old literature and models of these old classics, but I don't have the site, I'm sure one of our friends here will point you in the right direction. Getting a tittle might be a good starting place, they are kind of hard to sell or licence w/o one. Really a nice find, and I agree that 1957 sounds very close to what you have.
My 60 model is 16 footer and has factory twin 35 Johnson's. Getting the HP rating for yours would be nice to know too.

Dude, this boat is just needlessly cluttering up your yard:

How's about I help you out & haul it off the property for ya. At no charge to you of course. You're welcome, no thanks necessary.....

Just to make sure I know what I'm getting, I did a little poking around. This certainly looks like your's:

The rest of the 1957 family:
400px-Lonestarb57016.jpg

And a little helpful info about the Lone Star lineup for 1957:
Lonestarb57017.jpg

Of note is the Malibu spec info:
Length: 14'
Beam: 61"
Max HP: 35hp
Dry weight: 325lbs (no motor, no fuel)

Fairly substantial for a 14ft boat.

So now that we've got the ID all squared away, how's next Wed look for you?

Meet ya at the local Wallyworld parking lot to make the transfer? Pickup at your place is good too though. Lunch will be served, right?

Has it been painted silver/aluminum?

Nice looking boat. You should definitely get it back in service, preferably w/ one of these hanging of the transom:

I know a certain upper NE Oklahoma fella that might be interested in it if you ever decide to part w/ it.

Man u guys have got me wanting to go out and start working on it even if the wind chill is 8, it sure does look like the Malibu to me, I bet I could never find one of those wind shields, it came with a sovergin gale 30 I think that's what its called, Ive played with a lot of boats but that motor is new to me. its a 30hp I think. Yes its been painted, I painted it with rusto aluminum paint, I assumed it would have been bare aluminum, guess I was wrong. thank you all so much for your help Ill get some pics of the motor and inside the boat on here tomorow

Re: 1957 longstar?

The 30hp Gale was an OMC made private label motor. Often had features not yet offered on similar OMC motors.

It'd look GREAT on a vintage Lone Star. Painted isn't my favorite, but it's not my boat (yet, right? ;))

Don't know if it's a 30hp, but it's a vintage Gale motor

Re: 1957 longstar?

Well, if it's a 30hp, it isn't a 1963 Gale

If it's a 1963 Gale, it isn't a 30hp, and likely isn't a 30 no matter the year.

OB Gale motors

Several different private Gale brands were offered thru different retailers. Someone may have changed the correct hp label for the 30hp to meet the max hp rating of the Malibu or to be under a max allowed hp on a small hp restricted lake.

BTW: A windshield won't be impossible to source or fab. Or at least not 1 that will fit or work, but perhaps not original.

Re: 1957 longstar?

im trying to get it to fit in the mail box now. in the late 50's did a lot of the boats use the same pastel colors as the car mfg was using, I can just see this boat done up in that 50's teal and cream colors

Re: 1957 longstar?

Not really pastel I don't think, but some were certainly colorful based on the artist rendering I posted earlier:

Re: 1957 longstar?

I don't remeber off hand how Casey got the shine or keeps it.

I'mm on my phone, but once polished & shiny, many tin boats have no problem maintaining the shine.

I'll get ya some links later today.

Til then you can Google SharkHide, JJV's Best,, and Sonus.

Also look for InMotions Starcraft Falcon thread, he's got a GREAT stripper for old painted tin boats & an even better polishing system.

Nice looking Lone * Star. They built them stout back then.

By the looks of that motor, the PO was looking to make that a duck hunting boat.

Re: 1957 longstar?

thank you for the links jb, yes the made them very strong 64 and very dry, not 1 leaky rivet, I think this boat has been a lot of thinks in its life, its got about 10 layers of house paint to prove it
