Hey guys, I just picked up a 57' Super Silent 6, currently trying to find out why the throttle does not rotate past the shift range. Currently working on making it start. Experienced in small engines but new to the outboard world. Thanks for any help.

Some mercs of that era had an additional low speed control lever below the cowl. It may interact/interfere with the regular throttle control.

This model has Neutral and Forward. My observation on my '57 is that when in Neutral, a stop is put in place to limit ignition advance and throttle opening. Try placing it in Forward and see if you can open the throttle more.
