Ok guys, I been slowly working through the proper tune-up and awakening this 1958 FD-12. I've replaced the points, condensers, coils.
I cleaned the carb and put in a carb kit. Today I replaced all the LU seals, pressure tested and all looks good.
I started it in the tank and it seems to run rough at low idle. I went back and re-read the idle adjustment procedure.

I'm starting to wonder if I got the points set correctly at 0.020. Would this affect the low idle?

Or did I possibly miss something in the carb?

You need to set the high speed adjustment first, which really needs to be done on your boat with a normal load. Once you have the high speed adjusted, the low speed idle is easy. Joe Reeves post on adjusting the carbs in the FAQ section is VERY well written and easy to follow.

Thanks for the info.....I'll have to wait a day or two before I can get it in the water....those dang jobs get in the way of having fun.

I did read the carb adjustment posts but I guess I didn't realize it needed to be under a load.
