Anyone know where I can get a complete rebuid kit for this old workhorse ? I need everything . I'd like to go one size over stock (.10 ?)so I'd need pistons , rings , all seals and bearing , gaskets etc. I also need a few trim pieces for the cowling and all the decals for it . I'm putting the motor on my newest project , a 1960 Glass Magic Playmaster . It's a really neat looking boat and this is the coolest looking motor I've ever seen . Any direction is greatly appreciated , as always . Jeff

Hi Jeff,
Not likely you're going to find a rebuild kit, but you might get lucky. Start over at www.aomci.org and try some of their sources on the links page...
- Scott

'Mornin' JHM,

I think that if you go over-sized, you'll have to go to 0.020 over.

If Joe Reeves sees your post, I'm sure that he can direct you to the answers. The guy (my patron saint of old Evinrudes) REALLY knows the ol' omc's.

One spot you might check for parts is:
http://www.maxrules.com

Good Luck with youir project. Let us know how it's going. Most of all

HAVE FUN!

p.s. I love these old motors

No offense intended, but if you've got a 1960 boat, you might consider a 1960 Evinrude or Johnson 75hp. The Evinrude Starflite model was also very striking looking and both have better performance than the 1958-9 50hp, which was known mostly for it's gas guzzling and poor weight-to-power ratio.

Just my opinion.

JHM..... I do have a completely rebuilt magneto for the older OMC V/4 engines, and would suspect that I've still got some gaskets, seals, etc left in stock. Whatever you can't find elesewhere, jot me off an exact list of what you're looking for via my e-mail address and I'll check into it.

The oversize piston/rings run .020 and .030 if memory serves me right.
