Working on rebuilding the lower unit on this motor, and the seal kit I bought came with two prop shaft seals. One is very thin, the other is thicker, maybe 1/4 inch thick. I know I read something on the boards about using both seals, but I don't remember what order to use them in, or what orientation they should have.

Help!

Wherever a pair of thin seals replace one thick one, they are installed with the rubber lips facing away from each other. That way, one faces the oil to keep it in, and the other faces the water to keep it out. Much better than the one single seal that is only really effective in one direction, to keep the oil in. The sinlge seal is only partially effective at keeping the water out.
