Re: 1958 Fastwin Service Manual - Which is BEST?

After reading some recommendations (here and elsewhere) I got the Seloc manual for my '58 Seahorse. I find it very easy to follow with good descriptions and plenty of pictures.
I would describe myself as a competent mechanic, by no means an expert, and this manual suits me fine. One thing I do intend to get though is a parts manual, which I now feel is an essential companion to the repair manual which doesn't quote part numbers.

Many believe that the OEM Service Manual is the best, BB66.

SELOC and CLYMER manuals tend to be written for the amatuer wrench, are short on details but don't ask for special tools or equipment.

The OEM manuals cover only one or two models, so there is a lot more room for details and graphics. They do often ask for special tools or fixtures.

I am no pro wrench. I have used both and prefer the OEM Manuals when they match the engine I am messing about with. My bookshelf, however, includes a lot of Clymer manuals that I use a lot.

Good luck. :)
