1958 Johnson 35HP super seahorse with pictures. Will need some help!

I just acquired this for a decent price and was wondering what you guys think. It came with the wiring harness but it is shot. Where can I get a replacement? Internal wiring will probably need to be replaced too. Haven't had a chance to look at everything real close. It was supposedly run back in Dec. Part of the transom bracket is broken so I will probably have to find a replacement. What years are interchangable on these motors. Thanks for the help.

1959 35hp's are interchangeable and 40hp's through the early 60's are interchangeable

I rewired mine nad could not find a replacement so i removed harness and just ran ground and hot to new selonoid and electric choke to front. All other acc i rewired to another batt and it rins fine nice and simple.

I'd check the compression before sinking too much into it. Then check for good spark. Did you get a fuel tank with it? As it has a fuel pump it is a single line tank. Change the lower unit oil also before running it. And most folks would change the water pump impeller also. If you want full details on what to do, read the top secret file at the top of this forum.
