1958 Johnson Super SeaHorse 35

This is an electric start/choke. I was able to order a carb rebuild kit from NAPA but they did not list the float. Also the float is not listed on the iboats parts list. Is there a place to order this part or can I re-varnish the old float to keep if from flaking off?

Re-varnish the old float?...interesting! What type of varnish would you use? It would make sense to sand off as much of the old varnish as you can so as to not add weight to the float. Heck, I'd give that a try! Problem is, the varnish will cost ya more than a new float will. Most OMC dealers should have the float you need and it'll cost you less than $10.

What type of Varnish? I don't know that's why I asked on here. The cork is in to bad of shape, I'm afraid it would just crumble if I sand on it. I don't know of any OMC dealers here and any dealer I have been to has been unwilling to help. There is not a lot of knowledgeable boat guys around my area.

You didn't post a model number, but I beleave the float you need is #0375792. But the way the local dealers are treating you, I would buy it on line.

Model number for a '58 super seahoss is RDS-20 and it is best to get one of the newer plastic floats. The best way to go about this, is to go to an OMC dealer or try any of these sources. Try Sea-Way first, I bet they'll help you out.
