1959 35hp impeller

just fired her for the first time this spring, doesnt seem to be peeing much water. could someone give me a rough step by step so i can decide if this is somthing i can do myself?

let it run in a barrel, and see if it gets hot. or just go ahead and change the impeller. if it hasn't been done in a while, it is due.
