Came across this motor and a nice gas can for $60. Got her home put on a fuel connector and she fired right up. Put her in the tub and she spit water just fine.opened the oil plug and found milky oil, I had put fresh in before putting in the tub. I'm gonna put new seals in but I had to take the power head off. This is what I found. Figure I should clean that gunk out before putting her back together. Any tips?

Easy off oven cleaner works pretty good for carbon deposits, although that little bit isn't going to hurt anything.

Relax, that is normal. If you were to look down into a smokestack, it would be all nasty, right? Same thing.

While you've got the lower off, make sure you replace the water pump impeller.
