I just got a 1959 Glastron with a 50hp Evinrude on it. V4. I am new to outboards. The engine model # is 50518, the serial # 05674. Is this a 1959 engine? Is this engine 2stroke or 4stroke?
If it's 2stroke I need an oil/gas mixture?
If it's 4 stoke do I need to add oil seperately?
Do I need any other lube (ie. drive lubricant?)
I also want to see if it runs, can I do this out of water using the hose attachment? on the side or do I need to put it in water?

http://mitglied.lycos.de/old_omc/e_1959/evin_1959.html

50518 1959 2 stroke 24:1 mix

plugs champion J4C gap at 30

if its manuel shift you can use tcw-3 oil for that
if elect. shift need to use type C
use the muffs on to check it out if I didn't know when the last time the impeller was changed I would replace it before I ran it. The link at the top has some specs in you can enlarge the pics by clicking on it

standard muffs wont work to flush it. dont even try. tempo part number 918faa or go to the ole evenrude place. please post more information. has this motor run recently? a water pump kit and shift shaft seals would be a good start. this was a good motor but had some flaws. I owned one for years. hard on gas baby :) :) your local citgo dealer will smile :) . also look into a fuel pump kit. the pump on that engine liked to fail.

good luck and post more info
