how involved is changing the lower crank shaft seal ? im assuming the lower is crusty as the upper was basically burnt ? and if a plug is fowled is it reuseable ? whoever had this motor really cooked it good! idk the circumstances but im sure they smelled it cooking it was leaking from every lower seal ,waterpump and thermostat took an hour to clean ! also if the thermostat isnt working will it let in enough water to operate withotut cooking? in a car ive drilled holes in the old one cause it was winter and needed some heat until i could replace it? thanks ! Btw Im a master plumber if anyone needs any help there with questions lol!

Powerhead has to be removed and the mechanical seal is right there to change.
