hello all! im working on this 1959 golden jubilee 10 hp motor . im not a boat mechanic but mechanicaly enclined and i havent broken any bolts from overtightening in a while lol! this motor appears to have ran hot and lower end had little oil. removed to find these problems ! replaced every seal from the bottom to the upper water tube and no water where its not suppose to be . this motor was complete and made well !im impressed with the detail from the past some things are tricky like the throttle gears and handle , flywheel cam spring!!! anyone know what the big slot on the armature mount is for ? really like the top crank shaft seal ! dont make em like they use to

had problems puttin on the flywheel !!! used a woodruff key from hardware store it was almost exact minus the dips and slits bet the omc key would have saved me a day the fly wheele didnt want to taper down! got a wooden dowl drilled a 1\2 hole placed it over the crankshaft and used the smallest hammer and shes runnin poor but the flywheel is true it starts with one pull but rough these old motors are a work of ART! i have almost no experience with boat motors and i really appreciate everyone involved with this site and these forums ! some questions? how to dial in carb, the roller and the throttle gears? and if a plug is fowled if cleaned are they reusable?
