folks,

i've "aquired" a 1959 (ONE-owner, functional) Gale Sovereign 35HP & am in need of a service/parts manual. (tried to find one on several sites w/o luck). \

YES there are SOME differences in the Evinride/Johnson/Gale brands, though mosty parts interchange. (Gale parts are frequently "the two year old leftovers".)

thanks, sw

I have a late fifties gale carburetor manual on pdf I can email you. It may have some info that you may need. Has carb exploded views but no part numbers though. If you want it, pm your email address.

Found this on ebay. You may have been there.

My after market service manual has Evinrude,Johnson and Gale 56-64 in the same section. These motors are so similar most procedures are the same.
Some Gales did have the single hose tank before E/J but these are covered
under E/J.Carb kit 18-7024 and needle and seat 18-7093 covers E/J motors 54-59 25 to 35 hp.Coil 18-5181 covers many E/J sizes 1.5 to 40 hp 49-73.
Some parts like the impeller may require a comparison.
Also many parts are available at well established E/J dealers.

Re: 1959 Gale Sovereign Serice Manual ??

steelspike,

the reason i'm looking for a parts book is that SOME gale parts are NOT the same & we have no local "johnnyrude" dealer to "comparison shop" at.

i have to get most of my outboard parts from Sierra (NAPA store in this little village, by PREPAID special order) or by shopping the "worldwidewierd". thus i need parts NUMBERS for the "gale specific" parts.

and YEP my "secor" manual also handles all the '50s-early '60s OMC together.

thanks, sw

If you are serious about wanting to get a parts book, they are available to buy at outboardbooks.com It is a reprint of the original factory parts book, and he holds the copyright.

FR,

Hi again.

yes, i'm serious.
thanks for the tip, but i think that was one of the places that said that they were "temporarily out of stock".

will re-check the site, directly.

i went through www.abebooks.com, from whom i buy a lot of books. (abe's, btw, "go out of their way" to help their customers find books that are otherwise hard to find and/or will take an individual lots of effort to locate.)

sincerely, sw
