1959 Johnson 35 hp pawl return spring

So I replaced the recoil spring and rope on my 59 Johnson 35 hp today. In the process I broke one of the pawl return springs, and then another took flight. So I am not sure if there is something I can get at a hardware store or not, but what would you guys recommend? I need the boat running Sunday, and the service department at the marine store is closed Saturdays, and probably will have to order them anyways.

Ideas? Tips? Suggestions? Any help would be appreciated.
