Hello everyone,
I have a 1959 Johnson 35 Hp and it runs pretty well. The only problem is when the engine is pulled up in the transport position I get some fuel inside the cowl. Of coarse I have the fuel line disconnected. Usually before I pull the boat out of the water I will disconnect the fuel line and run the engine out of fuel and there is usually no fuel to show up in the cowl. Any information is appreciated.

Thanks,

when there is fuel in the carbs, and the motor tilts, the carbs drain into the cowl. on your motor disconnecting the line does not cause a problem. on multi-carbed motors, they top carb runs out of fuel first, thus gets no lube in the last few strokes. that 35 is a great motor, keep it well maintained, and it will run another 50 years.
