I can't believe I actually have this boat! Just picked it up tonight. Which ironically happens to be my wife and I's anniversary. I postponed the dinner a couple hours and was a little concerned about the fallout but she seemed to be a good sport about it. She bought me a card but all I could say was "yikes honey, I guess I bought you a boat!"

Anyhow I bought it from a young girl who could have been just a teenager. Had to drive about 3 hours and deal with a trailer that had been sitting forever and also not really set up properly for the boat. The temperatures were scorching and almost unbearable but it was all well worth it. I'm so excited to have this thing home.

Here it is. Sold to me as a 1959 Lonestar Malibu. (I'll have to verify that if I can find any numbers on her.) Doesn't look like much yet..... :)

Structurally it seems pretty solid. Not too many dings, dents or swiss cheese.

I'll post more observations later.

Hey Sam, welcome to iboats! That's a great looking Lone Star! Same year as mine and has the same lines. I had the same issue....no serial number. I could see the discoloration where the tag was originally. If yours is there it should be on the back starboard side of the transom.

Here's a link that was given to me by one of the iboaters:

What length is it? I thought mine was a Malibu at first, but the length put it as a Newport. Yahoo also has a Lone Star group that can help you with identification.

Hi there Stykbowhntr

Thanks for the links I'll have to look further into it.

The boat is 14ft. There is also a small plate with the company logo and the words Malibu lying in the bottom of the boat. I'll have to figure out where it mounts.

I was kicking myself a couple of weeks ago when I saw a Lonestar Newport for sale locally and I didn't jump on it right away. Then this thing came along. Must be fate......

Anyhow off to work but I wish I was working on the boat!

After I saw the view from the stern, I realized your wife is in for another shock. You'll have to restore a 59 Chevy to tow that sucker. Nothing else will do! :) <!"""""""""""""!>

Nice! I recently picked up my '58 Lone Star Skylark and also found the Yahoo group very useful. Gotta love the Fins!
