New to the list. I can't seem to determine how to properly split lower gear case from the upper case to check on the cooling water impeller as I'm not getting any return water from the outlet and the inlet is not clogged. I've removed the 4 bolts holding the two cases together and that loosens things up a bit but it seems that the shift linkage needs to be disconnected to get the two pieces apart. Anyone have any Ideas? Thanks

Yep,
You have to take the powerhead off Disassemble the engine from the housing there are 3/8" or 7/16" (head) bolts remove them and anything which connects the powerhead to the case, when you remove it you will see 2 nuts which hold the shift linkage when you remove them it comes apart easy as 1 2 3 email me if you need more help or parts.

gra6961@usa.net

Allan

Gary it sure would be a good idea to have a repair manual at hand. There is a tab at the top of the page or try the library, various book stores etc. Go to it.
