1960-18hp fuel:oil mix

I just bought a starcraft with a 1960 18hp Johnson seahorse. I have been reading and have been PM'D that I should run it at 24:1.
Anybody have some more input? I have a friend that recommends 50:1.

Does anybody have experience with this motor and what works for them? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

24:1 is correct for a 1960 FD-14 model.
