I'm working on getting an old Sea King 25hp manual start motor running. I've put in new points condensor coils and impeller. How can I tell if the impeller is pumping correctly. My '77 evinrude 6hp has a tell tail (pee hole). Should I see water coming out somewhere? Is there a thermostat somewhere, if there is I can't find it. We've gone through the carb and can get the motor to run for a second then it quits. I can't find much info on the cutoff switch and how it works. Could it be faulty and not allowing the motor to keep running? Any help would be appreciated.

No pisser stream, but you should see a good gush coming out of the hole in the rear of the motor leg. Usually starts up within 10 seconds of the motor starting.

Easy enough to disconnect the kill switch to rule it ou - there are scissor connectors attaching it to the two wires that run up into the magneto plate.

Chances are, the start & quit issue is fuel related. By "gone through", did it get completely disassembled? Is fuel getting into the bowl?
