Ok, I've searched here and everywhere, and get lots of answers for a replacement sealer for the lower unit spaghetti seal. Matrox, Boat Armor Sealer 1000 are referenced, but I found the company that makes Boat Armor stuff and they don't make it any more. I've tried Walmart, Kmart, Target, and auto parts stores here in San Diego, no one has ever heard of it.

So... Can anyone give me a specific, currently manufactured and available sealer that should be used on this old engine's lower unit spaghetti seal? Ideally, the mfg, what it's called, and even a known source for it? I know it's asking a LOT, but I'm going 'round in circles trying to find this to get my engine running again (and the weather is NICE here in San Diego! :)

Online source will work, but it'd be really great if I could get it locally. I just don't know what to substitute for the sealer as I've never see the right product.

THANKS!

Sealer 1000 is the name on the sealer you get from an OMC / BRP dealer. It's simply a hardning type sealer used for metal to metal contact. Any Evinrude or Johnson dealer should have a tube of it. You can use Gel Seal as an alternative.

A Johnson-Evinrude dealer has it and now is known as Type M or can be found as 3M #847.

The 3M #847 is the current replacement for obsolete Sealer 1000. I've used both and can't tell them apart.

McMaster Carr has it cheaper than OMC/BRP dealers, and they ship lightning-fast. http://www.mcmaster.com/
