I need some info. From what I have gathered, I have a Volvo Penta 9440 with a Penta PZ outdrive. Does anyone own one of these beauties? I need to know if the outdrive requires 30wt or 90wt oil. It is low but the oil is very clean and I have a feeling it is 30wt. Anyhow, I got the engine running today and I was so excited to hear it run without "rub or gallop". I still have to tag it and the trailer but I can't get them done soon enough. The trailer is quite beat up but seems to work okay. There is still much work to be done, but I think I may be able to restore it pretty well. Not too bad a deal for a Craigslist buy.

Congrats! You have just purchased a I/O package you can get ZERO parts for! Yes 30wt is fine for the drive. And that is a Model 100 drive, not PZ(?) 'nutcase

I actually found a dealer here that has a good outdrive that I may buy for parts later. I also met with a Volvo auto mechanic who is very familiar with these engines and says that many of the parts are interchangeable with the auto version. Do you or have you owned this package?? Thanks ZB!
