Hey there fellow boat junkies! I just got my hands on this nice 1966 Rude' 18 hp fastwin that looks great and I cant wait to get her on the water and fixed up a bit... The motor itself looks pretty great for its age. ( no major dings, and everything seems to be intact) The compression is perfect at 105 per cylinder and the spark seems good but that is as far as I had gotten today.... My question is that I would like to restore this motor to her former glory with some decals and new paint as well as replacement gaskets, pumps, and filters... Does anyone have any suggestions as to the process that I should go by in doing so? Like I stated, the motor looks pretty good and turned right over with a little spray of fuel/oil into the silencer cover!!! i was pleasantly surprised. The gentleman that i purchased it from was the original owner and said that it was running when he took it off of his boat years ago... sorry about rambling on. just excited to get this beauty back out on the water! Ive got high hopes for her. She is gonna push me around the Mosquito Lagoon here in East Central Florida fishing for Reds, and as well as serve as a kicker on the center console for trolling and or safety. Thanks in advance for any suggestions on getting this thing going! P.s. Anybody know specifically where I can find decals and paint for this 1960 evinrude fastwin 18hp? thanks... Here's a few pics.
