Just bought it last month, all redone from a dealer. Started last Sunday with no top end, then quit. Had to limp it in with the primer bulb, squeeze every few seconds to keep running. No fuel in the bowl on the fuel pump. Was leaking from the bowl as well.
Cleaned the filter, Checked out the lines and pulled the pick up in the tank. All working fine and clear. Started it in a barrel and ran fine. Took it out today and same problem, ran fine, idled for a few hours of trolling. Then started bogging down on the trip in at wot. Idled the two miles in and came home. Went to take it off the boat to take to back to they guy I bought it from, and when I tipped the motor oil/sludge came out the water intake. Not lower unit oil, checked that and it is fine, yellowish, no water. This is black/blue like 2 cycle oil. Hope my motor isn't toast!!

The oil you see is normal - just unburnt 2-cycle oil draining out. Sounds like you have a defective fuel pump, probably needs rebuilding or replacing. May also have a bad coil cutting out at high speed. Motor will idle ok on one cylinder.

Thanks Lindy46. I thought that but then the oil leaking out scared the crap out of me. But thinking about it, 24:1 is a lot of oil, especially when idling for long periods.
May just get another battery and a trolling motor. Would hate to damage this old beauty.
