Hello,

I just found this site the other, and am excited to begin my first old motor project.

I picked up a Johnson 40 HP motor real cheap, and want to get it running. The model # is RDS-22 which makes it a 1960 model. I haven't done much yet, as I am waiting for a manual to arrive but would like to get a line on places to get the parts I'm sure I am going to need. Any other advice or insight would also be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Welcome there is lots a folks here with first hand experience.
Many routine parts are availble right here at iboats. More obscure parts are likely available on ebay or on the net or from BRP dealers and many other venders.
There is a vast supply of new and used parts for for these and many other model OMC motors.

It seems like most of the Parts Manuals I find for this motor only go back to 1968. Would the parts numbers differ that much from '60 to '68? Ordering parts would be much easier with the numbers, I'd think.
