1960 johnson sea horse problem

hello

i just bought a 1961 16' star craft with a 1960 18 horse Johnson sea horse on it, the question i have i that i took it out on the lake and ran it for over a hour and it did great but then my son took over the wheel and when he pulled the throttle back to slow up it slowed real fast and now when you push the throttle all the way up it only has like half the power. anyone have any idea what would cause this?

Sounds like you may have a blown head gasket. I had similar trouble with my old Johnson recently and that turned out to be the cause.

Start with some basic checks, spark and compression, then check your fuel delivery system.
