Before I ask this question I should mention its a 1960 SeaHorse 40hp (RD-22) and was running. It ran rough but did run.

I took apart my fuel pump last night (being careful not to lose the springs) and soaked it in parts cleaner. Luckily my new pump kit came today. I put it back together, hooked it up and tried to start the motor (in water of course). It started great, ran for about 30 seconds then died. Now it doesn't seem to be getting any gas when trying to start. The hoses are hooked up correctly. As careful as I was I'm assuming I put something together wrong.

Now, before you say anything, I do not have the repair manual...YET. I do plan on ordering it as this isn't the last thing I hope to work on. I would like to get it out and do some fishing in the meantime though. :)

Any advice would be helpful, an exploded diagram would be great but I don't know if one is around. It is the old style pump with glass bowl filter.

While I'm on here looking at manuals...Is the factory service manual from the Ken Cook Co. the one to go with? I assume so since it is more expensive. :)

Thanks,

Matt

Sure, I can send you an exploded diagram. Email me at paul.moir@ns.sympatico.ca

The Ken Cook factory manual is well worth the extra $10 or so. You don't need the parts manual or the owners manual.
Seloc is the better of the aftermarket ones for that vintage. But it's a distant second to the factory.
