ok Just got this motor on the back of a 1960 Grady white, restoring the boat and motor

turned over did not fire up

can't seem to get the glass float bowl full with old hose...getting new one tomorrow. It gets about 2/3 full.

also there is a small black wire attached to a 11/4" circular thing mounted on the outside of the left side head(looking from the back) that runs out of the motor and into the well near the battery...does this go to the neg terminal???

is there a kill switch on the controls?

also not sure if its getting spark????? would this black wire have anything to do with that?

Yes I am in the process of getting a manual....will i need the electrical oarts list I see on ebay?

Thanks for the reply and the link.

I spent the morning building a very solid stand for the motor and removed it from the boat, I think its strong and balanced enough so I could run the motor on it.
