There's a lot on the forum on spark problems, but here is my experience which includes recently:

1. Check/change coils (which you did).
2. Check, clean, and/or replace points. May be worth just buying a new tune up kit and change both points and condensers.
3. Check for arcing.
4. Check for faulty kill switch (seems to be a common problem)
5. Be sure the flywheel has been torqued correctly or it can cause other issues and may ruin your flywheel (or has ruined).

Did you lose spark on both cylinders?

Check the flywheel key,key way in flywheel and crank.
Torque Flywheel to 480-540 in. lbs. Bore and shaft clean and dry.

another question about carb, the 2 rich lean control adjustment one is for idle the other is just for either running lean or rich how should they be adjusted? and does the 1961 run on 50:1 or 24.1 I mixed a batch about 35:1 in the middle was not sure

The official mixture is 24:1 on that engine. TCW-3 oil.

The upper knob is low speed adjustment and the lower knob is the high speed adjustment. Read the top secret stuff at the top to see how to initially set them.

Another thought, you said the motor had been sitting for 4 years. You didn't mention whether you had pulled the carb and cleaned it. If you do get the motor started, the motor may have a hard time idling if the jets are clogged up. You definitely want to read the top secret file...particularly the one for waking up an old motor or one that has been sitting for a couple of years.
