I'm helping a friend out with this little 10 hp motor and it'll start but the Lean/Rich knob keeps moving around on me. Is there a spring or something that should be behind that knob, between it and the faceplate, to keep it from moving randomly? Is there a base line number of turns (or turn) to start from, for tuning the "jet screw" in the center of the Lean/rich knob?
I also just got a 1965 Evinrude Speedifour 75 hp outboard. She has 90 lb's on all four cylinders - is that OK, and, if anyone knows what would the stock lb's be when it was new? Thanks - JP

Tighten the packing nut to keep the knob snug. Low speed adjustment should start at about 1-1/2 turns out. On the Speedifour, as long as all the readings are similar, you should be in good shape.
