1961 Johnson Sea Horse 75hp distributor cap pitted.

Mechanic looked at my engine last weekend. We found out it's only sparking on 1 and 3. No spark on 2 and 4. So I've got the tune up kit on it's way ..new wires and rotor. However the cap is pitted a bit. How much pitting will cause me problems?....Because, as anyone knows with these the cap runs almost 3 bills....sandpaper? thanks

Check the point gap on the second set of points. That should be the set that fires the 2 and 4 cylinder.

Clean up the cap, try no to take off too much brass
