1961 Mercury 700 Full Gear Shift

Could really use some help i'm first time owner of a boat that was given to me. It has a 1960,61 Mercury 700 Full Gear Shift. First problem the throttle control is an old Kiekhaefer thats been modified in regards to the wiring and i think some components may have been removed do to the fact shift cable wasn't being utilized. Question is is there anywhere i can look do replace the old tr ottle control or can i replace it with a more modern control set up.
