I recently purchased a 1961 MFG Oxford Deluxe in pretty decent condition. The hull is in great shape except of course for the transom. The floor seems pretty solid too. The original seats have been replaced.

The boat has most of the original "bits" and has not been modified. Looks like original steering wheel and cable system is complete. DAsh has the "glovebox" and the raised gunnels .. the beginnings of fins! It also has the splash plate.

Biggest bummer for me is the 8 inch vertical crack in the windshield. I would like to see any photos you have of this model. I tried to attach a photo. Not sure if it worked ... here goes.

Underneath all the mold and mildew green is a pretty nice original little boat. I plan to power with a Honda 20 HP with power trim & tilt. The engine weighs about 140. Should be fine. ( We have many lakes in PA with 20 HP limits.)

I'm a bit surprised that the "Deluxe" deck has gelcoat on it but the lapstrake hull has none and you can see the fiberglass strand easily. Are other MFGs' this way too?

Re: 1961 MFG Oxford Deluxe - Beginning a New Life

Can any of you you give me the actual physical dimensions of the wood strake or spray rail that runs down the side of '59, '60 Oxfords, Celerons. My '61 does not have it but I would like to add it as a design element.

My plastic covered steering cables are failing with the plastic stripping off. What is everyone using as replacement cable?

Wondering if anyone has experience in re-doing the transom on this model?

Does anyone know the proper factory seats in a '61 Oxford Deluxe? Were they still the mahogany wood seats? Mine has what appears to be newer seats. I'd love to see photos of an original interior of this year/model.

Anyone have experience replacing the windshield of this model? Mine has a big crack in it. Luckily the frame is good and complete.

Lastly I have a Chrysler engine control that came with the boat. I'm using a Honda Four Stroke and don't need it. Anyone interested contact me. Fifty bucks plus shipping. It is in good shape but has no key. Cables and wires look excellent and appear as original.

From the"sound" of this post you are trying to sell it,is that correct? I do not have any interest in it ,just trying to figure out where your going with all the questions if your selling.
I have posted to photobucket some images of my Oxford in the condition that I purchased it. If anyone wants to a boat that is nearly untouched in 50 years this is it. Very little has been modified or painted.

See it here: http://s399.photobucket.com/albums/pp76/SLHPHOTO1/MFG%20Boats%201959%20-%2061/

Oh No, not for sale at all!

Just posted the photos for others to compare their own projects to. For reference only. The boat is relatively untouched in 50 years so its a pretty good example of a "plain Jane" '61 Oxford Deluxe.
I plan to rehabilitate, not restore, the boat and use it for cruising my local lakes.

I would sell the Chrysler control box if someone needs it. I have no use for it. Someone else may need it for parts?

Okay, that's clear.NOS windshields MIGHT be had for your model.Try nicklecityclassics or fiberglassics.com [ Wshld listed on 1st site]The man you want to talk can be found on either site and goes by Dave cc1000.Both on this site and FG there are post on how to make your own if you want to try that.Hopefully Dave will have your size. The boat with the blue all over it I picked up after the pics were taken, have not had time to work on it.Steering cable can be found at Hdepot or any similar box.Plastic coated wire of the same diameter or a tad smaller. There is a MFG forum on Fglassics as well,RL will answer all your questions, try listing your motor in the Glassifieds, not a real good motor to peddle but there are some lovers out there for every brand.

Thanks, I'll check out your references for the windshield. I took mine off yesterday and I'm happy to say, at least my frame is in excellent condition. Headed to HD to look for some cable today.

The Forums mentioned sound interesting. I'll take a look.

I don't have a motor, Just the Chrysler control box with cables and wire that was left in the boat. There is no key for it, but it could be a good parts unit or maybe use as is.
