I finally got the motor running. I replaced the impeller and after doing so couldn't get it started, it wouldn't even fire at all. Pulled the plugs and found I was only getting spark on one plug. Pulled the flywheel and cleaned the points with no success, still only spark on one. Swapped condensers to see if I would get spark on the other plug and lo and behold I had spark in both. Must have been a loose connection or corrosion or something.
Anyway i am now trying to get the carbs adjusted without much luck. Firstly i guess I'm confused about how the mechanics of the how the knobs connect to the needles with the metal linkage. No matter what or how I adjust the knobs I am not able to turn them to adjust them, kind of hard to explain.
Can someone post a picture of how your linkage is connected to the needle and knobs on this exact engine?
