quick question that i can't seem to find the answer for. i have the opportunity to pick up a 1962 18 hp evinrude. i need to know if it is a short shaft or a long shaft before i make the trek out to get it.. the Model number is 15036B - 09959. i have tracked down it makes it a 1962 18 hp. but is it a long shaft or a short?

with it ending in an even number i think it means it is a short shaft. I just wanted confirmation before i drove 50 miles to check it out.

I believe your assumption is correct, short shaft. However that doesn't mean much because it may have been converted back and forth half a dozen times since it left the factory. Heck, we used to convert them when brand new to meet the customer's needs when we didn't have the correct long/short shaft model in stock..

Thank you. Just got a picture of it. It doesn't have the extension in the leg. So it's a short shaft. Now time to make a deal on it.
It will find a new home on the back of my 1951 14' aluminum Lonestar. If I can work out a deal.
