(wasnt sure where to post this....mods move if necessary)

Ok guys. This thread will be for any questions I have or more importantly any comments and suggestions that you all can give me. I am REALLY looking foreward to getting this little guy into like new condition, and also for your insights.

ALL THE PICS ARE THUMNAILS>>>>>CLICK THEM TO SEE A LARGER VERSION ( save loading time as I am sure pics will be a plenty)

Here are a few pictures of the motor at the begining of this adventure. The marine growth on the leg has eaten through the paint and primer in some places leaving the bare metal exposed. The rest of the motor is in typical shape for something that has been in the sun for a lot of years. The finish is faded and very dull.

This pic is of the lower unit after I cleaned as much scum as I could off with a dilluted solution of vineager and water.

These pics are of the lower unit after I sanded all the loose paint and primer off in preparation for new zinc primer. I used a few different wire mesh brushes i had that attach to a drill. I used proper mouth/nose and hand precautions as the old "green primer" is very dangerous. I also have removed the propeller which will also be refurbished and given a new white coat.

Re: 1962 Evinrude Fisherman Restoration

I have just today begun to restore the fiberglass cowl. There are a few nicks and minor chips here and there, but I didnt feel the need to fix them as I think they add a little "class" and "history". Here are a few pics of the cowl before I began.

The next thing I did was carefully remove all of the old decals. This was a little tricky as I was trying not to break the little fasteners that held them on from the inside of the cowl. After removing the decal pieces I gave the cowl a good sanding and cleaned it off the best I could. It certainly doesnt look pretty at this point.

Here is the cowl after one of MANY coats of primer.
