I have have purchased the following outboard kits for restoring my o/b. Lower unit seal kit, new water pump kit, ( complete with wear plate and housing, a terrific find). 2 new ignition coils, tune up kit. Length of hose long enough to replace all the brittle fuel and vacuum hoses, and clamps. Before i get a new carb kit, I would like to ask if the gasoline today is going to take a toll on the o-rings, seals, or other parts. Is there such a thing as a carb kit for this classic that's able to stand up to the present gasoline we have today? Should I use some kind of additive in my gas ???...since all gas is unleaded now, and contains ethanol....... appreciate any opinions or advice...... Thanks, Dan

Your carb kit should be fine. You'll want modernized fuel hose (which you just got) It sounds like you're on the right track to getting this fine machine dialed in.

HI duffer. Aside from getting new fuel lines and being vigilant about inspecting your carb there's really not much you can do to prevent the problems associated with ethanol. Just run a nice 24:1 mix (approx. 5.5 fl. oz. per 1 US gallon) with 80-90w, 2 cycle oil and 87 octane gas and you should be fine. They do make fuel additives if you plan on letting the boat sit for long periods of time, but I try to make lots of little batches of gas rather than larger ones that can sit for long periods, to avoid having to use stabilizers. Here are some handy links to help with your tune up.
