I'm doing coils, points, condensers and link/sync on this old unit and when I got it apart, one coil for sure had been changed back who knows when and it only had 1 oil felt wick on 1 set of points

The new overhaul came with 2 felts but the little tin clip to hold the second one is missing

So how important is it to have 2 oil wicks (oiled felt strips) or whatever they are called.

Thanks

UPDATE: answer my own question

After doing more searching and looking at a parts manual and removing that coil again, it don't use or have a place for 2

Sorry to bother

It only takes one wick. In fact, there is no place to put a second one. If you look at the post under the second coil you will see that it is a different shape and won't hold a clip.

They pack a wick with each set of points because they don't know whether you will be replacing one or two sets.
